New Tryst Music: Tegan, Sara, Tiesto, and Just a Band

Tegan & Sara have a new album out called, Sainthood. I've only just listened to it, but I can definitely see liking this a lot. Their sound is maturing, of course, as these girls mature. Paste describes the new album:
"Their sixth studio album seamlessly entwines the exuberance of Cyndi Lauper with compressed pop-punk chords, synthy new-wave and Euro-techno. The arrangements are consistently dynamic and clear, but Tegan & Sara’s wordy vocals steal the show"

They are always such a delight to listen to. I'm sure upon a few more listens, I'll have a review of my own to post here. They are coming to Atlanta in February. I'll definitely be getting tickets to that soon.

These girls also did a bit of trans-Atlantic collaboration with Tiesto, the trance superstar. While I'm not a big fan of trance music, Tiesto is a great producer and I cannot ignore this collaboration. I think T&S' collaboration actually made Tiesto's sound a bit more refined. He didn't have to overdue the moody synths or ambience because their vocals have such emotion. Feel it in my bones (hear it below) is such a treat.

Another great album that just came out recently is by Just a Band. JaB is a band that creates funky house, disco, and electronica music. They are from Kenya and intertwine Kenyan lyrics and rhythms with the traditional dance and electronica sound. They are wonderful. Check out their new album 82 on iTunes. You'll definitely enjoy it.

Tryst, my monthly DJ gig at Bellissima is this Friday and I will definitely be playing these tunes! Stop by to hear dance and enjoy this beautiful music.
